How Americans portray us.

First of all, we don't say eh all the time. We don't pronounce words like about (aboot) or roof (ruff). Every country has idiosyncrasies, that help make them unique.

We don't all live in igloos, drive snowmobiles to work and eat caribou.

Just like not all Americans are gun toting rednecks looking to cook up some road kill.

We have to accept that tv is out for entertainment. As a Canadian I actually enjoy some of the way tv portrays us.

I rarely get offended. You know, typical Canadian, great sense of humor.

When I was in the military, we used to joke that Canadians will go any where as long as you give us beer.

Living in Canada

This is a huge country. Although canadians know more about the US than they do about Canada. How many provinces have you lived in. Even for a short time?

I was born in Ontario, grew up in Quebec, moved back to Ontario. Joined the Air Force, lived in Nova Scotia, then back to Ontario and finally Saskatchewan.

But not only have I lived in 4 provinces, I haved visited 9 of the 10 provinces so far. I have yet to visit Newfoundland.

Canada has so much history and interesting sites.

Have you been to the Plains of Abraham? Have you seen the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean? Wandering the property at William Lyon Mackenzie King's estate is quite a treat. Did you know that there is a very nice cafe near the peak of Whistler's mountain? Deep sea fishing with hand lines in the bay of fundy is a nice relaxing day trip.

After a long day of driving, a nice way to relax is at a hot spring in Ainsworth. Thee is even a cave you can enter that is part of the spring.

I will enter more later. Lots to see and have barely scratched the surface.

Smile

Let's face it. We are all getting older. Nothing we do can prevent it. Every day time ticks by. What are you doing with your time? Are you squandering your time filled with negativity.

Or are you enjoying every moment of the day. No I am not saying that you have to go every day with a goofy grin on your face or to simply be indifferent to the world around you.

But what are you really doing? Are you contributing to humanity or are you taking from it?

Don't think that you don't have an impact on people. Smile at a person as you pass by. They might be having a bad day and a simple smile from a stranger may cause that person to smile and passes another person while smiling. Smiles are contagious, pass them on.

I work in sales and I talk to people every day. If someone is down, I do my best to improve their day. Just by listening. It's that easy. I hear many sad stories from my customers. I deal with people that have had a rough life, but they deserve as much respect and happiness as anyone else.

Smile.

Oh yah, tag your it. Pass it on.

Weather

Ok, so here we are in November and typically in Saskatchewan we are trudging through snow and sleet by now. We are pretty far North. Approximatly at the 53rd parallel.

This year the weather is very odd. It is going up to 15 celcius tomorrow. Can you believe it? And there is no snow on the ground. I am not used to this.

So the big question is, where is winter and just how bad will we get it this year?

Customer Service

Why is it so hard to get good customer service these days? I work in retai and I try to give the best customer service that I can. Nothing is more frustrating in going out for a nice meal, getting seated and then basically having to beg for water or coffee refills. It's not that hard. Hey, try smiling once In a while. You might actually enjoy it. No one wants to be around someone who looks angry or depressed.

When I am out looking for something to purchase and I have questions, it would be nice if someone were available to answer them. Not on their phone or testing. You can do all that on your own time.
